die der art guten Freunde

When Joey Zimmermann, Irène Hug and Maja Weyermann (J. I. M.) initiated an artist group called die der art guten Freunde [the sort who are good friends], the first event they organised was an exhibition entitled Grüße aus Brest, Jim [Greetings from Brest, JIM] (1997). The second event – a panel discussion about love – was coordinated by Irène Hug and Maja Weyermann. In total, the artist group die der art guten Freunde organised four events. The group’s activities ended in October 1998 with several staged gambling evenings. People were invited to play blackjack and poker over the course of five evenings in the back room of a corner pub in Berlin. The event was entitled Faites Vos Jeux [Make Your Games].
In 2013, 15 years later, Maja Weyermann revisited the installation As Time Goes By – which had been developed by the group for an exhibition in The Hague in 1998 – with a piece for a group exhibition in Berlin called die Zeit in der ich noch an Wunder glaubte, oder ich weiss, es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehen [The time when I still believed in miracles, or I know that one day a miracle will happen].
